The very first thing one must realize is that there are many different types of crimes, and many different types of criminals. They are from every race, any age, and every background. From violent crimes to fraudulent claims, all can have a serious impact if they effect us personally. Right now there are over 6 million convicted felons living in the United States alone, and many many millions of misdemeanor offenders. Sometimes people just make a mistake in life. Sometimes people make a life of mistakes. The latter are the ones to be weary of. Before the internet, conducting an accurate background check required you to have a persons full name and birth date, state of offense and a rough idea of the years an offense may have been committed. Then you had to PAY A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR or investigating service hundreds of dollars and wait a month to receive your report! There are many sites online that claim to offer extensive records or even free background checks. I would like to point out right now that there are NO FREE BACKGROUND CHECKS. These sites will ask you to type in a persons name "for free" and then tell you that a complete profile is available for a fee. This is a dirty little trick they use to try and rope you in. Although the information available from these sites may be legit, it is in no way a valuable means of obtaining records.

As i had stated previously. A background check site worthy of my time and money must meet a certain criteria. There are many out there just trying to make a quick buck and run. If they offer a you a 1 TIME REPORT, don't waste another moment on their site. These days there are criminal record sites that give you full unlimited access to their database FOR YEARS. These are some of the same databases that many Private Investigators use to conduct their searches. 
Governmentregistry.org is a great
example of an online records site. This site boasts a very
clean user friendly database with Billions of records available and is one of the original online background check sites. Though the price for membership is a bit more than the others, their massive database and support is superb and well worht the few extra bucks.
GovernmentRegistry.org gets a rating of

ArchiveRegistry.com offers a
massive, easy to navigate database with a
5 year unlimited search membership
for one low price. For a little more than
$30 you can perform as many
background checks and public record inquiries as you
want for 5 full years. Because of
this value, I give

Criminal-Check.com is a site
that's more focused on criminal records. If you
ONLY want to search criminal records
and the like, then
Criminal-Check.com may be for you.
They too offer a 5 year unlimited
search membership to their site for only
$25. Not supplying other types of
searches as Archiveregistry and
Netdetective includes does have
its draw backs. Although
Criminal-Check.com has a great
membership offer, its too focused on just criminal
records to be at the top of the list. This site
